Pine Straw Mulch
Pine Straw Mulch is the final touch for beautiful gardens and landscapes. Pine Straw's auburn like color gives a clean decorative covering for landscape and gardens. Pine Straw is an organic landscaping mulch that retains moisture, and is high in nitrogen. As pine needles break down they acidify the soil making an excellent landscaping mulch for acid-loving plants, trees & shrubs (such as camellias, azaleas, hydrangeas, fuchsias, gardenias, ferns, dogwoods, magnolias, holly and all evergreens). Pine straw adheres well to slopes and will help your garden or landscape resist erosion.
Advantages of Pine Straw Mulch:
- Good Insulation for both summer and winter months
- Lets water and oxygen move freely into the soil
- Easy application and maintenance
- Helps to keep your garden insect and rodent free
One of the advantages of hardwood mulch is that it comes in different colors and various sizes. Rough shred, double-shredded, and triple-shredded, are the most common with rough shred being the least fine mulch and triple-shredded the finest. The finer the mulch, the better job it will do to hold in moisture and prevent growth of weeds. Hardwood mulch will help in preventing soil compaction and crusting of the top layer of the soil, and help accelerate the absorption of water into the soil.
Pine Bark Mulch
Pine Bark is ground and screened to produce different types of pine bark mulch including shredded pine bark mulch and pine bark nuggets. As it decays it breaks up the soil which promotes healthy root growth. It doesn't compact like most mulches and has a pleasant reddish brown color and holds up longer than most mulches. Pine is also an excellent soil conditioner and is great for your acid loving plants.
